Arcade's Daytona toolkit lets LLMs create and control isolated Daytona sandbox environments for code execution, file management, Git workflows, and long-running processes.
Capabilities
- Sandbox lifecycle management — create (from snapshot or Docker image), start, stop, archive, resize, delete sandboxes; configure auto-stop/archive/delete intervals; set labels for filtering; list available regions.
- Code and command execution — run code directly in the sandbox interpreter, execute shell commands, and manage persistent background sessions for servers, watchers, and multi-step workflows (including async commands with log retrieval and interactive stdin support).
- File system operations — read, write, move, delete files and directories; list and search by name pattern or content (grep-backed); bulk find-and-replace across files; create folders.
- Git workflows — clone (GitHub auth automatic via OAuth), branch, checkout, stage, commit, push, pull, status, and log; full branch management including create and delete.
- Snapshot and port management — create and inspect environment snapshots (image templates); list active ports; generate preview URLs (standard or signed) for sandbox-hosted web services.
- Access and identity — create time-limited or non-expiring SSH credentials; retrieve authenticated user profile tied to the API key.
OAuth
This toolkit uses GitHub OAuth for authenticating Git operations (clone, push, pull) against GitHub repositories. Token acquisition and refresh are handled automatically by Arcade Engine after a one-time user authorization.

Secrets
DAYTONA_API_KEY— A Daytona API key that authenticates all sandbox API calls (sandbox CRUD, execution, file operations, snapshot management, SSH access, etc.). Obtain it from the Daytona dashboard: navigate to Settings → API Keys, then create a new key. The key is scoped to your Daytona account and controls access to all sandboxes under it. Copy the key immediately after creation — Daytona does not show it again. TheWhoAmItool can confirm the key is valid and reveal which account it belongs to.

exposed. The token expires after ``expires_in_minutes`` (default 60 min).

Clone a Git repository into the sandbox.
For GitHub repos, authentication is handled automatically via Arcade's
OAuth integration — the user is prompted to authorize once, and the
token is managed by Arcade Engine. Consent is one-time; token refresh
is automatic.
Permission requirements by auth mode:
- OAuth Apps mode: the "repo" scope is requested (full repo access).
- GitHub Apps mode: the app installation must have "Contents: read"
permission (for clone/pull) or "Contents: read & write" (for
clone followed by push).
